The Portland area makes up about half the weddings I photograph each year. This makes sense, since Portland is Oregon’s largest city, by far, but even if it was a smaller municipality, it’d still be a destination wedding market. What most folks don’t know (those who don’t live in Oregon) is that Portland has amazing summers: warm, dry and sunny nearly every day from late June through late September. And, with the Oregon Coast only an hour away, and dozens of vineyards nearby as well, Portland has a lot to offer.
This first image is from Bridal Veil Lakes, less than an hour east of Portland along the Columbia River Gorge.
This image is from a wedding I photographed at Mt Hood Organic Farms, also about an hour east of Portland. You can read more about this amazing venue here.
Downtown Portland has a very distinct vibe. Loads of bridges, a vast waterfront and terraced hillsides make for some great wedding photos. This image is from an engagement shoot I did in NW Portland, at Tanner Springs Park. I really liked the rusty train rails rising up vertically, creating a wonderful texture and colorful backdrop.
Finally, this is from a wedding I shot last year. It was a crazy hot day so we had to find some shade. Luckily there was a park near the groom’s house in Tigard, Oregon.
